Comcast cable workers, Jim MacConnell and Tom Masciulli [Ma-shu-lee] had just finished a job in the Woods Hole area of Cape Cod when an elderly neighbor frantically ran up to them, pointing and yelling that his house was on fire and that his wife was trapped inside.2014 winter classic jerseys Jim and Tom immediately ran to the burning home and rushed inside. The house was fully engulfed in smoke and visibility was poor but they heard cries coming from the second floor. Rob Dixon is a full-time teacher but knew that there was even more he could do to positively influence our youth and in 1993 founded Project RISE. February 5, 2009 - Yegue Badigue
Tonight, we honor Yegue Badigue [YEGG-ay BAD-i-gay], a young man who has beaten great odds to triumph time and again. Born blind in the nation of Chad, Yegue persevered in the face of adversity.Toronto Maple Leafs winter classic jerseys 2014As a teen, he traveled to the U.S. to attend Perkins School for the Blind. Excelling there, Yegue went on to Gordon College. In May, he completes studies in international relations and music. While exploring career possibilities, Yegue works to raise awareness of the plight of disabled children in his homeland and around the world. Yegue says he dreams of ?bringing economic empowerment to those who are left behind."

February 2, 2009 - Shawn Brown
In 2001, Shawn Brown co-founded Diamond Educators, a Roxbury-based non-profit mentoring organization. In addition to the countless hours he spends with Diamond Educators, Shawn also has a full-time job as a Career Specialist and is a mentor to 25 teens annually.Detroit Red Wings winter classic jerseys 2014As a testament to the power of the program, many of the youth Shawn has impacted have become mentors themselves to younger children. In only 7 years, 400 youth have already been mentored through the program in twenty schools throughout our city.
Amazingly, over 95% of youth mentored through Diamond Educators have graduated from high school and 80% have gone on to college.
